Abstract: (6 Views) |
This study was carried out to comprehensively identify and assess high school students' expectations of their parents. A qualitative approach using interpretive phenomenology was employed. Participants included high school students in Marvdasht during the 2021-2022 academic year, selected via purposive sampling. Sampling continued until theoretical saturation (N=24). Data were collected through open-ended, semi-structured interviews. Recorded and transcribed conversations were then analyzed using thematic analysis. Analysis revealed 30 sub-themes, categorized into six main themes: the need for self-confidence enhancement, the need to experience new opportunities, an intimate and reciprocal relationship with parents, the need for unconditional acceptance, mutual attention to deep emotions, and bridging the gap between parental mindsets and the child's worldview. Findings showed that from the perspective of high school students, family interaction, a positive and joyful atmosphere, freedom, humor, and mutual respect within the home are among the most vital needs. Recognizing these needs by parents leads to higher life satisfaction during the high school years. |
