The present study compares the effectiveness of lecture methods of instruction and group discussion in learning of self-awareness skill among Touiserkani male guidance school students in 2012-2013 academic year. For this purpose‚ 51 seventh graders were randomly selected and assigned to 3 groups (2 experimental and 1 control). The pretest-posttest design with control group was utilized in this research. The two experimental groups (the lecture method and group discussion) received the intervention for one and a half months (six sessions), however the control group received no training. In the seventh session, a posttest was administered to the three groups. The instrumentation consisted of a self-awareness questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using t-test‚ one–way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe post hoc test. Results indicated that both lecture methods and group discussion had positive effects on the learning of self-awareness skill among students‚ nevertheless students’ learning was promoted more by group discussion.
