Abstract: (9 Views) |
The present study set out to determine the effectiveness of mindful self-compassion (MSC) training on parenting stress, feelings of loneliness, and parental burnout in mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design with a control group was used. The statistical population included all mothers of children with ASD referring to the Blue Room Clinic in Yazd. Thirty mothers were selected via convenience sampling based on inclusion/exclusion criteria and randomly assigned to experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. The experimental group participated in 8 weekly 90-minute MSC sessions, while the control group received no training. Instruments included Abidin’s Parenting Stress Index (1983), the UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell, 1980), and the Parental Burnout Assessment (Roskam, 2018). Data were analyzed using MANCOVA in SPSS-24. The results demonstrated that MSC training significantly reduced parenting stress, loneliness, and parental burnout (P<0.05). Consequently, mindful self-compassion training can be utilized as an effective intervention in these psychological domains for parents of children with special needs.
