Abstract: (17 Views) |
The present study aimed to examine the impact of socialization on citizens’ environmental culture, with an emphasis on the role of the family. The research employed a survey method using an online questionnaire. The statistical population consisted of citizens in Tehran, from whom 384 individuals were selected through Cochran’s formula and quota sampling. The results indicated that higher levels of socialization corresponded with stronger environmental culture among citizens. Furthermore, both the objective dimension of environmental culture (such as pro-environmental behaviors, conservation actions, and environmental responsibility) and its subjective dimension (including environmental values, norms, and concerns) showed a positive, significant relationship with socialization. Considering these findings alongside previous studies, we can conclude that family functioning, its values, and the socialization process within the family play a crucial role in shaping various aspects of citizens’ environmental culture—meaning that families with robust pro-environmental practices also foster eco-friendly behaviors, values, and environmental concerns in their members.
