Abstract: (10 Views) |
The present study aims to explore the implementation challenges of family therapy. The research is applied and qualitative, using a phenomenological approach. The statistical population consists of specialists in various fields of couple and family therapy in Tehran Province during the years 2021-2022 who met the inclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria required psychologists or counselors with a master's or doctorate degree, at least five years of intervention experience in family-related domains, and willingness to participate in the study. The sampling method was snowball sampling, which continued purposefully until saturation, ultimately selecting 15 experts. The research data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using an inductive thematic analysis method. Findings identified 17 initial concepts, 8 sub-themes, and 4 main themes as challenges in the implementation of family therapy services, including insufficient awareness of family therapy services, economic concerns related to family therapy interventions, deficiencies in specialized application of family therapy services, and inadequate preparation of treatment centers. The themes indicate that family therapy remains a relatively new field among mental health professionals and clients in Iran. Despite the significant role of family in Iranian society, specialized training and supervision over various family therapy services have not been fully established. Additionally, the lack of facilities and the unawareness of officials in institutions offering such services have contributed to its limited professional recognition and adoption.
