Abstract:
In this paper, the role of addiction to computer games in students’ aggressive behavior and their social isolation is investigated.
Computer games are one of the most exciting entertainments for children due to their diversity, speed and fun. The increasing use of computer games and children’s attraction to this kind of games has a variety of side effects. Social scientists and psychologists have studied the consequences of this sort of addiction and they have asserted its role in isolation of adolescents and reduction in their social relations and interactions and their aggressive behavior.
The method of the present study is survey and data has been collected through administrating questionnaire. The validity of the items has been evaluated and approved using Cronbach's alpha test. Statistical population of the research consisted of all school boys in Kashan, 320 of which were selected and participated in this study.
The findings of the research indicate a correlation between the students’ level of addiction to computer games and being a withdrawn person (r=0.435). The correlation is positive and with increasing addiction to computer games, students had an increase in social isolation. The correlation between addiction to computer games and aggression is 0.472. So with the increase in addiction to computer games, student’s aggression will also increase.
