The Effectiveness of Religious Teachings Presented in the “Religion and Life” Textbook of the 2nd Grade of High School from Students’ Point of View

The present research aimed to examine the effectiveness of religious teachings presented in the “Religion and Life” Textbook of the 2nd grade of high school from Sabzevari students’ point of view. More specifically, this study focused on religious education and its importance, factors impacting religious education, the role of religious education in individuals’ calmness as well as objectives, methods and stages of religious education. The statistical population of the study included 200 Sabzevari girls and boys who were selected through simple random sampling method from public high schools. Results indicated that 83.5% and 16.5% of students assessed the effectiveness of religious teachings incorporated in the “Religion and Life” Textbook of the 2nd grade of high school in fulfillment of religious education goals “average or higher” and “low or very low”, respectively. In addition, 78% and 22% of students assessed the effectiveness of the religious teachings in attainment of Quranic principles “average or higher” and “low or very low”, respectively. Furthermore, 80.2% and 19.8% of participants assessed teachers’ efficiency in teaching religious teachings “average or higher” and “low or very low”, respectively. In general, it can be stated that there is a positive significant relationship between the students’ religious education and the religious teachings incorporated in the “Religion and Life” Textbook of the 2nd grade of high school.
