All students need to learn about global issues in school in order to become living and practicing citizens in our everchanging global society. To achieve this goal, the present study was undertaken to investigate global education components in social studies and geography textbooks of junior high school. In conducting this research a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was utilized and the content of the social studies and geography textbooks was analyzed based on four components, i.e., awareness of educational systems, perspective consciousness, accountability, and procedural mentality. The obtained results indicated that there was a significant difference between the two components of awareness of educational systems and perspective consciousness. Nevertheless, no significant difference was observed between accountability and procedural mentality components. Hence, the awareness of educational systems component as well as the elements of core global education should be infused into other textbooks so that 21st century students can be prepared for a global society.
