Abstract:   (5797 Views)

The aim of this study was to predict marital adjustment among young teaching couples based on differentiation from family of origin and parents' marital satisfaction. The survey was conducted among teachers in Kermanshah who were married for at least one year or whose marriage lasted maximum ten years and had no history of divorce. The statistical sample included 155 individuals who were selected through cluster sampling method. The instrumentation included the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976), Differentiation of Self Inventory (Skowron), as well as a self-devised Parents' Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and regression analysis (enter method). The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between parents' marital satisfaction, self-differentiation, and young couple’s marital adjustment. In fact, parents' marital satisfaction and differentiation from family of origin both positively predicted young couple’s marital adjustment.
